Along the La Ruffa Torrent
eight water mills were built, some in Arab architecture and others
“a pinnata” (sloping roof). Only
one is still functioning in the Lampazzone district. These water mills
remained in working order until after the Second World War but,
where they still exist,
they are at this point to be considered part of the area’s historical patrimony. Wheat
and other cereals were brought to the mill on the backs of donkeys,
but also carried on the men’s shoulders and on the women’s heads. |
