| Here was born the legend of Manto, the
Prophetess, who gave her name to the Mantineo rock. The sailors would turn to her before confronting the sea and
the Vaticano promontory gets its name from the prophetess, Manto, “luogo
del vaticinio” i.e “place of prediction”;
in fact “Manteuo” in Greek means “to predict” and in Latin
“to foretell”.
