The name of this town is tied to the Carthusian monastery, founded by St. Bruno in 1091.  The inside of the monastery is rich in precious, wooden treasures and delicate frescoes.  The Carthusian Museum (tel. 0963 70608) witnesses nine centuries of this Order. Not far from the monastery one can visit the church of Santa Maria del Bosco, the grotto of St. Bruno and the little lake of Miracles.
